Freedom Day 2017

Freedom Day 2017

Wed, 11 October, 12:00 pm-1:30pm

Freedom Day is a free event created to commemorate the life of Holocaust survivor and human rights advocate Simon Wiesenthal.  Each year we strive to carry on his legacy of tolerance, justice and human rights. Now in its 8th year, Freedom Day has expanded into a highly anticipated, multicultural celebration of Canadian values.  Approximately 3,500 Grades 6 - 12 students from public, Catholic and private school boards from across the greater Toronto area and beyond gather annually at Yonge-Dundas Square to actively participate in the festivities, and be inspired to take action in making Canada a more inclusive, multicultural society.  This year’s speakers include former CFL player & motivational speaker Orlando Bowen, Montreal-er Corey Fleischer who is working to erase hate graffiti, Indigenous activist Tracee Smith, Holocaust survivor & author Max Eisen and ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli returns to MC the program.
