Parkinson Canada’s World Parkinson Day Celebration 2024

As part of World Parkinson’s Day, we want to bring Parkinson’s awareness to the heart of Toronto. In collaboration with Martha Johnson and Dancing with Parkinson’s, we will showcase the strength, resilience, and patience of our community through the release of Martha and Company’s new song “Slow Emotion” and participation in a sit-to-stand initiative happening across the country during the day. This initiative aims to log the most sit-to-stands in honour of Parkinson’s awareness.

Note:  A sit-to-stand is the transitional movement of going from a seated position to an upright standing position. This motion is one of the most important and energy-consuming basic motions in everyday life and is difficult to complete by those affected by Parkinson’s.

Through installations, improvisations, compositions, performance pieces, and more, Intersection connects both active and passive audiences with contemporary music-making.
